Why Doing Less Can Help You Achieve More

World Champion and physiotherapist Robbie Wells shares how doing less, more often, can transform consistency, movement, and mindset ahead of his upcoming Beyond the Cage webinar.

by Robbie Wells, Chartered Physiotherapist & Taekwon-Do World Champion

As we get to the end of the year, many of us start reflecting on our habits — the things we said we’d do more of, and the things we quietly stopped doing somewhere along the way.

When I talk to people about movement or exercise, most will say the same thing: “I know what I should be doing, I just can’t seem to stay consistent.”

That’s because most of us are chasing intensity — when what we really need is rhythm.

I’ve learned that consistency isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing less — more often.

Over my years competing and now as a physiotherapist, I’ve seen how joy and discipline go hand in hand. The best athletes — and the happiest people — are those who find meaning in the small, repeated acts of effort. They show up, even for five minutes a day. And when they do, something shifts.

The truth is, discipline without joy doesn’t last.

We can’t sustain habits that feel like punishment. But when we connect movement to meaning — when it becomes something we do for ourselves, not against ourselves — it changes everything.

That’s what my upcoming Beyond the Cage webinar, Less Is More: Building Consistency That Lasts, is about. It’s not another talk about training harder — it’s a conversation about finding patience, joy, and self-respect through the way we move.

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost momentum, or struggled to stay consistent with your goals, I hope you’ll join me. We’ll talk about how small daily actions can lead to big changes — and why, in life and in training, less really can be more.

Embracing Fear

"We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
