Taking Action Daily: Building Belonging, Resilience, and Purpose

Founder Zak Sylvester shares the vision behind Take Action Daily, a Beyond the Cage community helping young men build resilience, purpose, and belonging through daily action, reflection, and role model support.

Founder Zak Sylvester shares the vision behind Take Action Daily, a Beyond the Cage community helping young men build resilience, purpose, and belonging through daily action, reflection, and role model support.

When it comes to creating meaningful impact for young men, small consistent actions can often be more powerful than grand gestures. Take Action Daily, the latest initiative powered by Beyond the Cage, is designed to provide exactly that - a steady anchor of accountability, reflection, and community support. We sat down with founder Zak Sylvester to hear why this community was created, how it works, and what he envisions for its future.

Zak, what inspired you to create Take Action Daily?

“For years I’ve seen how many young men feel overwhelmed by expectations, distractions, and a lack of safe spaces to be themselves. Beyond the Cage was built to connect men with positive role models, but I wanted to create something that provided daily structure and accountability. That’s where Take Action Daily came in - a community where small actions build into real transformation.”

How does the community actually work day to day?

“It’s really simple, but powerful. Every day, members get a Theme of the Day - one word, one quote, and one reflective question. Each person commits to two actions: first, share their reflection in the community; second, complete a physical activity of their choice and post proof. It could be a run, a workout, or just a walk. Over time, this creates consistency, accountability, and belonging.”

What makes this different from other online communities?

“Two things: culture and structure. We’re intentional about who joins - every member must commit to staying active, posting a welcome introduction, and treating others with respect. This isn’t a place for negativity. It’s about building each other up. On top of that, we’ve built in features like daily live calls, weekly Q&As with ambassadors, and gamified progress through a leaderboard. The structure keeps momentum; the culture keeps people safe.”

What outcomes are you hoping to see?

“At the core, it’s about resilience, purpose, and connection. I want men to feel they belong somewhere, that they’re supported by others who genuinely celebrate their progress. Over time, we’ll measure impact in reduced isolation, improved wellbeing, and the stories of men who’ve found strength through community.”

Why partner with Beyond the Cage on this initiative?

“Beyond the Cage has always been about connecting young men with positive role models - world champions, educators, mentors. Take Action Daily is a natural extension of that mission. It gives us a daily touchpoint to embed those values in a practical, consistent way. For partners, it shows we’re serious about real impact.”

Who can join Take Action Daily?

“Take Action Daily is open to young men who are ready to show up, take small consistent steps, and commit to supporting others along the way. This isn’t a space for everyone, it’s a curated community built on trust, respect, and encouragement.

For organisations, educators, and partners, the most valuable role you can play is in creating awareness…

If you know someone who could benefit, direct them toward the community. From there, if our values inspire them to take action and join, they’ll be welcomed inside.”

For Beyond the Cage, Take Action Daily represents more than just another online community. It’s a movement to help young men anchor themselves through daily action, reflection, and support. As Zak puts it, “Success isn’t about perfection - it’s about showing up, taking small steps daily, and doing it together.”

Embracing Fear
